It is an art form followed by only a very small sector of the populace; an
informed and devoted elite. Why is this? Why don't more people go to the
opera? Well, because operas are long, frequently tedious, the characters
sing everything in a foreign language and repeat themselves endlessly, the
tickets are expensive, drinks at the bar are way overpriced, and there's far
too much music! It's a shame that opera isn't a little more user friendly,
because once you get past all that music and pomp, it's chock full of sex
and violence!
