Sean Thompson was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He attended the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, where he majored in printmaking and graduated with Honours in 1988. Sean currently works as an artist on computer games in Vancouver.
Sean has done considerable research into the history of hockey, and his paintings and constructions reflect the degree of worship placed on the brutal and gentlemanly nature of a Canadian pastime. In his own coded form of storytelling, Sean creates portraits of athletes as inhabitants of a world of fables, attaining angelic stature with their weaknesses still intact.
A combination of folksy portraiture and colourful Canadiana, Sean's works of art also appear in the books "The Original Six", "My Leafs Sweater", and "The Greatest Goal", as well as in galleries throughout western Canada.
